There are many ways to make real money on the internet, so many that I know most beginners are “overwhelmed” by the amount of informations. However, after coming to 3 years online, I realize that making money online can be classified in just 3 simple steps.

As long as you have this 3 simple components in your entire online business, you are almost guaranteed to make money online. But, the problem with most beginners, or commonly known as “newbie”, will want to chase after the next latest system, strategies, softwares and “instant noodles” way of making money online.

Personally, I would rather understand the entire online business model and work on the ones that works on my business and my clients, to get real results on the internet.

Having said that, let’s explore the 3 steps right away now…

First, you need to setup your entire online business. I would say,
Step 1 is Setting Up.

In step 1, setting up, there are a few key components.

First, what is the market you are looking into? If you are running your own traditional offline business that you want to start marketing your business online… If that’s the case, then you have your market set.

However, if you are looking to explore on the ways and means on making money online, then, the first step is critical for you, which is to determine the market you want to work on.

There are 2 ways to work on that, first is to choose your own passion. What do you like? What’s your hobby? What’s your favorite pass time? Your hobby might be in Golf, Fishing, Running a Marathon, or even Playing Computer Games…

with that, all you need is to research on how big and profitable your market is, and if you could start making some serious profits from it.

The 2nd way is to jump right in to identify the market that’s profitable. I choose this method when I first started my first “baby” project. I choose this niche, called Runescape, which I have zero knowledge about.

This market is giving me good profits and I profit thousands of dollars from it, but the fact is I do not know anything about it, and only grow to like it recently.

So, it’s your choice, to choose your market based on interest or profitability of the market.

After you have determine your market, the next thing is to

1) Register Your Domain Name
2) Setup Your Hosting Account
3) Setup Your Initial Website to start getting traffic.

I’m sure the first 2 is pretty straight forward, which is to register your domain names and setup your hosting accounts. Usually, it’s the 3rd one that most beginners are stuck with it, and that’s the point where 50% of them gave up.

There are many ways to setup your initial website nowadays. You can setup a landing page, to collect names and emails to build your database.

Or, you can setup a blog, like mine, to start blogging about your market and interest and pull visitors to your site to build a relationship with them.
Or lastly, you can start a free, and simple page like MySpace, Squidoo and drive traffic to it, so that you can start talking about your market too.

Personally, I love to build my own landing page and also blog like this… why? Because I have 100% control on my online business. If I build my business on MySpace, Google or Squidoo, they might change their business model which can totally affect my business profits.

We have talk a fair bit about Step 1, let’s talk about Step 2:

For Step 2, it’s all about driving Traffic to your website. Today, driving traffic is one of the utmost importance in an online business. What’s the point of having a beautiful site or blog like mine and you only get 5 visitors per day, or maybe only 20 visitors per month. It’s NOT going to make you money.

My clients have paid me thousands of dollars just to drive thousands of visitors to their website month after month. So, once you have learned this skill, it’s going to put in some serious cash into your pocket.

There are only 2 ways to drive traffic. (Oh! I forget to tell you this is going to be so simple)

1) Free Traffic
2) Paid Traffic

There are many free traffic strategies. I will share some of them here…

Free traffic strategies that I personally love are:

1) Article Marketing
2) Traffic Exchange
3) Blog Comments
4) MySpace Traffic
5) MyBlogLog Traffic
6) Squidoo Traffic
7) Affiliate Traffic
8 ) Joint Venture Traffic
9) Video Marketing Traffic
10) PodCasting Traffic
11) Link Directories Traffic
12) And many many more…

Of course, I cannot go into each and every one in details over here, however, if you do check back my blog in the next couple of weeks, I’m going to talk about all these strategies in more details, and how you can use it to dominate your market.

Here comes the paid traffic strategies:

1) Paid Per Click, from Google, Yahoo or MSN
2) eZine advertising
3) Pay Per Subscribers
4) eBay Traffic
5) Press Release
6) Classified ads
7) And many more…

So, all you need is to know and understand each and every traffic strategies and know how it will helps you to drive the targeted traffic to your website. For example, my website, RoyPhay.com itself, uses most of the free traffic strategies.

Only when there’s a need to drive some campaign, which I’m going to run a survey campaign in a couple of days, I would use paid traffic strategies to give me fast, instant traffic to get instant results.

Ok, we have come to Step 3, which is Conversion Strategies.

Today, you have setup your website, domain name, hosting and find your profitable market. And you also spend at least 8 hours a day, 7 days a week for 8 weeks, driving visitors to your website…

And if you do NOT know how to convert all your traffic into paying customers, I’m sorry to say that, you also cannot make money online.

So, what’s is this conversion strategy all about?

If you being running a offline business, you would grabs this idea better. Be it whatever business you are in, there’s always prospects, or also known as leads, or cold market, which you have the initial contact with.

Then after the initial contact, the prospect or lead will decide whether they can trust you enough to let you have their business. And if they decided that, you have a customer. Right?

And after you have customer, you would want to treat them well, and get them to be your repeating customers. So, that’s what we called a repeating customers or evangelist.

So, here’s a diagram to better illustrate what I mean:

Traffic ==> Leads/Prospect ==> Customer ==> Evangelist/Repeating Customers

So, very important, you would want to have a system where you get all your traffic to become your prospect first…

The best way is to offer something in exchange for their first name and email address. I personally invested my weekend to work an exclusive book, “Insider Secrets to Building a 6 Figures Income”, not found anywhere on the internet to provide great value to my prospect or subscribers.

And once you have the right to contact your subscribers, I would strongly recommend to respect their privacy and continue to build a relationship and also give them value. Most important is to get them to like you, trust you, and only that, they will want to buy from you.

So, personally, I invested more time, by giving more value of creating a total of 7 step-by-step videos on showing my subscribers how to setup their website, from Step 1, to driving traffic, which is from step 2.

These are the value that I provide that not found anywhere on the internet. Most marketers would give you their system, home study course in eBook, binders and etc. For me, personally, I would prefer to hand-hold you, if I were to teach you about making money online.

You might ask me, “Why?”

Simple! That’s how I wish someone would hand-hold me when I first started out, with that, I can save months and months of struggles, and make more money now.
