The entire trip was over 8 days, starting on the 8th of May. This was my 2nd trip to Sri Lanka and give food to the poor families. The previous trip was last September, you can read more here.

For this trip, there’s a total of 3 things I’m most happy about.

1) Celebrating Mother’s Day in Sri Lanka
2) My cousin contribute to distribute food to milk feeding mothers
3) Through the help of all my friend, we raise another 500 packs of rice & milk powder to give to another 500 more families food.

As the 9th itself was Mothers’ day, and instead of celebrating it in Singapore, I decided to plan a surprise party for all the 5 mothers in our group.

None of them knew about the party, except for my wife. The whole idea to let the mothers feel the joy, and secondly, is to let the orphanage have the fun of party, and also the happiness of chocolates, cakes and all the goodies.

Before the party starts, everyone was busy packing the goodies into bags, so each boy will get a pack. Note the boxes of goodies we bought this time in the background of this photo. We checked in a total of 28 bags and boxes this time, and the lady at the check-in counter was shocked.

So, once that’s done, the party begins.

I had already arranged to order a chocolate cake, and 5 roses for each mother in our group. So, you can see each boy holding a stalk of rose, waiting anxiously to give to the mothers.

Here’s a photo of all the 5 beautiful and compassionate mothers. The lady in pink floral is my grandmother, she already promoted to become Great-Grandmother since the day my boy was born.

The lady on her left, in black, is my mom. The lady in purple dress is my wife. The other 2 ladies, are my aunties. One of them is a grandmother, and the other is a mother.

So, all in all, we have 1 great-grandmother, 2 grandmothers, and 2 mothers in the photo.

All the boys and everyone were very happy. They were singing and the room was full of laughter. My grandma was so happy receiving the rose.

Next, the mothers helped to cut the cake to give to all the boys. Everyone was so joyful and happy.

For that, I’m happy, to see all the people there so happy.

The following day, we went to the area where we going to distribute the food to the milk feeding mothers.

We reached the distribution area the previous day, and everyone in the group was shocked to see mothers already queuing up at the gate.

And you know what? It was at least another 16 hours before we will start distributing the food to them. They were there with their young children, and have to stay throughout the entire night and waited till the next morning.

As I was back in my hotel sleeping, I was thinking about all those mothers waiting outside the gate. My heart just aches to think about it.

The next morning, we do our best to arrive as early as possible, and start the ceremony on time.

As you can see, people are breaking into the gate, and pushing to come in. For a start, we only allow the 100 invited milk feeding mothers to come in first.

Just within minutes, everyone was queuing up, waiting for the place to be ready and start the ceremony.

So, the first thing we want to do for them is to let them have a chair to sit. They have been standing up the entire night. Most of them would have been standing under the hot sun, carrying their babies, walking a few kilometers, and waited for hours.

They are really very strong mothers.

At this photo, you can see that I’m explaining what’s in the big white sack to my cousin’s and their family. It’s the same items that I had a photo on in the previous post.

All the invited mothers will get at least S$30 worth of food, including many food items, mattress, sarongs, medicines, fruits, water and etc. This time, they are very happy with all the items.

These 100 packs of food to the mothers was contributed by my cousin this time. They were very happy to see how much S$30 can be given to each family.

Once all the mothers are almost seated, we start to distribute the food to them.

Of course, my fortunate son helps to distribute the food too, and hopefully he will grows up to help more poor people than his parents.

As the 100 mothers were happily receiving their bags of food, they are at least 300 other mothers and poor people waiting outside the gate.

Last year, we only had about 200 extra packs of food to give to those uninvited.

This year, we had, over 500 packs of food, to be given to those uninvited mothers. All thanks to my friends in Singapore, and overseas. Without all your help, I would not be able to raise so many packs of food to give to them.

For those uninvited, we give them 5kg of brown rice (good quality), and 400 gm of milk powder (best quality), on top of that, 2 coconuts, and some other chocolate rolls we bought along.

Each pack was S$8, and as I share with my friends asking for help, many came forward to give whatever they can. Thank you so much!

Look at the long queue, we didn’t count how many people came, but we estimate at least 300 – 400 came. With that, at least anyone who came, didn’t go home hungry and empty handed.

All I wish is that the pack of food they receive can help to feed their babies, and even family for at least 2 weeks to a month.

Within just 2 hours, all the months of preparations, hundreds of people, and all the stacks of rice, milk powder, coconuts and food was gone.

But deep in my heart, and everyone in the group, we felt happy. We feel a sense of happiness, peace and calmness, and as I’m typing this post, and now in Singapore, I can truly say how fortunate I am…

Here’s why it is such a fulfilling trip to me…

1) Celebrated my son’s 1st birthday during the trip
2) Had fun with 40+ kids from an orphanage
3) Distribute food & milk powder to 100+ breast-feeding mothers

We left the country on 11th, reached Sri Lanka, and celebrated my son’s 1st birthday. Time really flies, just last Sep, here’s how my son look like when he was first born. After a year, he’s have grown up a lot.

Here’s a photo of his birthday cake. This cake weighs 6 kg. It can be easily baked in Singapore or any other countries, but in Colombo, from the cake shop, this is the largest cake they ever made. And I was very surprised and happy of the cute design too.

We bought a lot of goodies for the orphanage. This is the same boys’ orphanage which we have been visiting for years. For this special trip, we have bought extra gifts for them.

From the boxes you saw, here’s the list of items…

1) Pencil case, writing materials, exercise books for schools
2) Birthday party sets, and bubble blower for party
3) Biscuits, chocolates and lollipop which all kids love
4) Toy car, which all boys love
5) Custom-made brand new matching t-shirt and shorts for schools or outings

Here we are, busy packing all the goodies into each bag, so each boy gets the same items.

Of course, Darien is involved in the packing too.

The following morning, we celebrated my son’s birthday with all the kids. We had such a blast.

After the usual birthday song, blow the candle, cut the cake… the kids are excitingly waiting for their cake, and all the goodies bag.

Everyone had so much fun! My parents, grandma, and aunties and uncle had fun too. Of course, I could do the usual birthday celebration at home, but I know it’s more meaningful to do it in Sri Lanka. This is the 4th time visiting the place.

When my friend knows that I’m going to Sri Lanka again, their usual response would be, “Huh? Why Sri Lanka again? I thought you went there many times already?”

But to me, it’s different each time. Every time I went, I learnt more and more about the place, culture, people and also starts to become friends with them. In fact, the orphans know that we will have a party and they are excited to see us.

Also, I use it as a reminder to myself and hopefully my son, how blessed I am, in Singapore and with all the haves I got in my life right now.

The following day, we went to another rural area in Sri Lanka. This place houses many poor families. Most of them would only have a ten square meters mud house to live in. There’s no furniture, most of them would sleep on floors with newspaper. The roofs are made of coconut leaves. The worst part is they live near the safari, where elephants would go to their houses at night to search for food.

With that, incidents of families killed, or death or injuries caused by elephants is common in that area. As Sri Lanka is a developing country, with no television, movies, internet in that area, so baby birth is high.

So, baby suffers the most, with Mal-nutrition as mothers did not get enough to eat on a daily basic. Also, they did not have the basic like milk bottles, diapers, blankets, baby cots, baby pram and etc. Everything is to the bare minimum. Some babies are wrap in only cloths.

During this trip, other than celebrating my son’s birthday, plus all the joy of family vacation, I love to do my tiny part to make a difference in other people’s live too.

From my business profits, we would usually put aside 10% of the profits to give. Rather than giving to some foundations, charity organization, which a lot of times we don’t know where our money goes, this time, we chose something real different.

We are going to give 100 breast-feeding mother food, milk powder and necessities to last them for at least a month. Here’s a photo of the items…

All these items are put in a white bag…
1) 5 Kg brown rice for nutrition
2) 1 Kg Milk Powder (Best Quality in Sri Lanka)
3) 1 Kg Noodles
4) Salt and Sugar
5) Dahl (Their stable food)
6) Some spices
7) 3 coconuts

They weigh a total of at least 15 kg. Not only that, they have some other items too.

1) Mattress for them & baby to sleep on
2) Towel for their baby
3) Sarong, a cloth like clothing for them
4) A bag
5) Some chocolates we bought

Guess how much does all these items cost? All the items, excluding the chocolates and bag, is only SGD$30, only about USD$20.

So, my internet friend, if you think you got your first sale, from affiliate, adsense or your own product, and it’s only USD$10 or USD$20, think about it… it might not means a lot to you, but it can feed a family of mother and baby for at least one month to 6 weeks.

It’s a great reflection trip for myself too. How much just SGD$30 can impact a family in another part of this world? And many a times, we don’t even think about it and it’s gone in our wallet.

Ok, back to my sharing… here’s the place we have prepared for them, chairs for them to sit comfortably.

Here’s another photo of mothers with their babies queuing up. All 100 mothers are specially invited given their family condition and with a invitation letter. This photo you saw that they are queuing up, these mothers are not invited.

The ceremony starts at 10am, we reached the place at 9am. These uninvited mothers are already queuing at the gates. Note it’s a poor rural area, they don’t have money for food, let alone transport. Most of the would need to carry their babies to walk for at least 3km to maybe 5km or some 10km.

In just a few minutes, the chairs are filled and the entire ceremony starts. My friend who organized the entire event would explained to them what is this entire ceremony about… of course, in their language.

After that, it’s the moment they have been waiting for hours… they will be seated comfortably while we distribute all the bags and etc to them.

In just only 5 minutes and carrying about 20 bags of the 15kg big white bag, I’m already panting. I was thinking to myself, how are some of the mothers going to carry their baby, and also carry the 15kg load, plus all the mattress and etc.

But, if I’m that desperate, even if it’s 30km, I will make sure I walk home to be able to feed my baby. Big learning for me.

After the 100 invited mothers who are gone, now, how about those uninvited mothers?

From my friend who have done this many times, the experience is that, if you cater for 100 bags, an additional of 50, 100 or even 200 will come too. Because that area is really poor, and too many poor than just 100 of them.

So, what we did is to buy extra 1kg milk powder and some other clothes to them. So, with that, we bought another 100kg of milk powder. So, for those who are uninvited, at least they don’t go back home empty-handed.

With that, they queued up and in just minutes, everything was distributed away.

My friend told us we were lucky. Usually, from past experience, they would not have enough, and they have to chase them away. This time, we had some extras, so at least we don’t have to chase anyone away.

The most I get from this trip is to be thankful, and always be appreciative. I will never forget the smile, and the simple “thank you” from the eyes of the orphans and mothers. Some of them even come specially in front of me to shake my hand and thank me. Most of them are very shy and just give me their happy smile.

I’m really happy to be able to help to contribute to their life, and hopefully their kids too.

The entire giving ceremony lasted only 2 hours or so. However, it’s in my vision for at least 2 – 3 years. One day, I wished I could do that too. My wife, Michslle, had the vision to build schools and hospital since she was 14 years old.

She was so happy to experience that. In that area, my friend had built a hospital for the poor people in the area. Now, he’s stuck to get it going due to lack of funds. And you know what, the amount to get the hospital going is not a lot, he only needs SGD$30,000. Sure, thirty grands is not a lot, nor it’s not little too.

At least to me and my wife, it’s something we can aim for in the months to come.

With that, we went for our usual sightseeing and also resort tour during the rest of the trip. I had a good rest, great reflection trip, and great time with my family too. I’m really thankful and happy for this trip. It’s something that I will never forget.

This time, I’m took a video and a tour of it, so you can see more of it.

We have lots of good food, turkey, ham, sushi, wine, champagne, seafood, and many others. In short, it’s one of the best way to spend Christmas. Good friends, good food, wonderful scenery, the ocean breeze and choppy waters… it’s beautiful!

As I’m writing this blog once I got back home, I still can feel my house moving and having the after seas effects. Haha…

I’m really thankful, as the weather is perfect today. It was sunny and hot around 1pm to 3pm. Coming 4pm onwards, the sky gets cloudy and looks like raining. And guess what, we have a cloudy evening and no rain, and beautiful sunset.

I always love the sea, and being on a LUXURY, oh my God! That’s a dream comes true!

See, the thing is that I love watching Travel and Living on Cable. A few of my favorite programs like “Richest Man In The World”, shows on luxury lifestyle, like yacht, resorts, big houses and fast cars. And I always love to listen to those rich people speak as they are interviewed on the program.

And the moment I heard about this opportunity I get to be on this yacht, I canceled all my appointments, I want to be on it!

Let me show you some quick photos on the inside of the yacht. This is what you will see when you first step into the interior of it. A 6 seater dinning table.

Follow by a L-shaped sofa big enough for 6 people, and a BIG Screen LCD TV.

This space alone is about the size of my living room space. And walk a few steps down, you will see this. A relax area with another LCD TV on the side.

Then next you can see another step down the lower deck. There’s a total of 3 decks on this yacht. So, follow me…

With a few steps down, you can see it’s a long hallway… and you can see 2 of this small single bedder on both sides.

Not only that, you get 2 such bathrooms within the yacht, and with a bath-tub on this one. Now, that’s what I like it…

With that, lastly… the master bedroom with a Queen size bed… This is really sweet!

You can see the space that this luxury yacht has… the total space is over 2,200 sq meters, now that’s 2 times the size of my apartment.

It’s as good as living in it. You have everything in it, including a kitchen with oven, fridge, sink to wash, stove to cook and even washing machine.

Which means, you can take this yacht and go for a 5 days 4 nights cruise to the surrounding islands and countries to tour around. Of course, first, you have to be able to charter for it, pay for the diesel and the skipper.

While cruising, I’m on the top deck most of the time. That’s the best way to enjoy the breeze, the sea, and of course the beautiful scenery of Singapore.

It’s really beautiful! The sky is slightly cloudy that day, but at least it’s not too hot and humid. Just the perfect weather to be out cruising.

The above photo looks like Hawaii, if you notice, with all the palm trees, the sand, the beautiful sea, and also the sunset.

I’m really blessed and grateful for this opportunity to be on this great evening. Not only that, the owner of this yacht is now my good friend, and I have reserved to charter this same yacht on Christmas itself. I was looking to get it on Christmas eve, if not, within the same week.

The only thing about this yacht is that while cruising, it only allows 12 people on board. So, this means that the charter I’m going to have is going to be only limited people. But while docking, it can takes as many as 30 people on board and still have plenty of space to move.

However, who would want to be on a yacht that’s dock in the marina and not cruising. So, I have invited my group of 12 friends and of course my family on board. We definately going on this yacht cruise this year, just not sure when is the day.

I promise I would be smarter this time to take a 3 – 5 minutes video tour of the entire yacht, and while cruising if I can, and show it to you. Video is so much better with photos here.

It is indeed a long journey, and one that I will never forget. God is amazing at how he can create a full growth human from just the joining of 2 human cells. That’s amazing.

This entire 40 weeks taught me another process of patience… and also enjoying the round to success. Success is definately one it’s way and many a times, nature cannot be rush.

NO way I can tell my baby to be out on the 20th week, right? So, I really learn how to appreciate the entire process, from the very beginning till the moment he’s born. I’m speechless…

I’m really tired now as I’m typing this, it’s 2am now. I’m up since 5:30am the day before. I need to catch some sleep, before another long day tomorrow.

Here’s some quick photos I took and love to share with all of you.

Do you think labor pain can smile? I don’t think so… this is taken the first few hours upon administration. She only feel slight pain, and thus can smile to the camera.

As the nurse and doctor is outside, we took a quick shot of ourself… better do it fast, before all the smile is gone…

As you can see, we even bought our laptop, as Michslle have the intention to do work to distract herself from the pain. In the end, we end up playing games. Notice lesser smile now…

The total hours of waiting is almost 10 hours, with me in and out of the room, running errands and etc. The last 2 to 3 hours is the worst as the pain builds up.

I must really salute my wife and to all the woman out there who can really endure the pain without epidural. As the contractions comes, it’s really really painful. Even thought I cannot “feel” it physical, it pains my heart to go see her go through it.

The final hour is the most painful, I would say…

And as the doctor comes, and the come to push… we are really fortunate that Michslle got it all over in less than 10 minutes. In just a few hard push, the baby is out!

Phew! The power of mother love and God’s creation…

Now, as I’m writing… both mother and baby is sleeping soundly. Michslle is recovering soon, and I really thanks for all the well-wishes and blessing.

With that, we took our “Play” account from one of the 6 money jars, that T. Harv Eker, taught us about… and spend it away and feel rich.

So, just want to share with you some great ideas to spend your “Play” account.

I planned a great fine dinning dinner at Sentosa. There’s a great restaurant called, The Cliff Restaurant. I found the place off “Boat Asia” magazine, so I assume it’s good.

Since I do not drive a car, so what I did was to book a Mercedes Cab to drive us to the place. Here’s a picture of how it would look like.

I’m a good student, and Harv says that it needs to make you “feel” rich… so that what I have for transport. Further more, since I’m going to hire a cab, I might as well go for the best one.

Once we reach the restaurant and got our seat, we realize why the place is so good. Look at some of the photos we took. The first one is where we were seating and overlooking…

Other than seeing us in the photos, observe our background… it’s all lush greenery, and it’s beautiful. Not only that, it’s real quiet, and you could even hear the incests communicating.

From the view where Michslle is seating, she can see the partial view of the sun setting. She told me that if the trees were not that tall, she would be able to see the full sunset, which she loves it.

The menu is something that we never have seen before. Easily 80% of the menu, I don’t know what’s the dish is all about. So, I just go for the simple dishes that I love to have and also would taste good.

Poached in chardannay nage, creme fraiche with linguini and fresh herbs

Just simple 3 dishes. Of course, for the main course of the lobster, we have 2 shares, one each.

We didn’t take the photo of the crab, only took photo of the other 2.

The food is more than good. I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s not definately what I have in my lifetime. The cost is not cheap too. So, if you plan to go to dine, bring extra cash or make sure your credit card have enough limit.

The good thing is that we are spend off our “Play” account, so as savers, we don’t feel the pitch when we saw the bills coming.

To top the night off, after a good dinner, I secretly book a new release show for Michslle, which I know she loves… Wall E

We being to the cinema together since we are 17. However, we never been to Gold Class of Golden Village. So, I decided to book 2 tickets for the Gold Class too.

The entire cinema is of different class. As you walk in, the screen is huge. And there’s only the most 40 chairs in it. Each chair is those huge massage chair, except it doesn’t have massage functions on it.

The seats are perfect for couple. Each couple have a small table in between and a button to press for people to serve you drinks and food.

Yes! We used to only buy pop-corns or hot dogs into cinema. In Gold Class, we suddenly still feel hungry and go for one of the their set dinner meals again.

The entire experience is worth it! Of course, I will not go for every movie I want to watch, only for those that’s good. Now, Michslle says we can spend all our Play account on Gold Class cinema at least once a month.

Personally, I really enjoy the entire evening. We went back home, feeling so blessed and also so good… inside our spirit, and also re-charged for more things ahead.

In fact, I would say it’s all back to Guerrilla Business Intensive, where we learn some new strategies, ideas and most importantly, practical action plan for our business.

We planned the short trip right after the seminar for 2 main reasons.

First is to take a break after the 5 days intensive seminar. Secondly, is to make use of the short break and set new vision, purpose and mission into my business.

So, with all the planning in place, all we need to do is to make the plan work.

You are stuck in your internet business…?

I always heard from others saying that it’s the environment that caused them the misery they are today.

It’s the FTP, the server problem, that coaching package, or marketer problem that caused me not to start making money from the internet.

Many a times, human beings would point the finger to the external source. Seldom would they look internally and analyze where the problems lies.

I can almost guaranteed that 9 out of 10 times, the problems lies within yourself.

Most people just don’t know that they don’t know the problem, or know that they don’t know the problem…

and not knowing where to get the answer.

Worst still, if you know that you know the problem consiously and not taking specific actions to set to the right course… that to me, would be like committing a crime.

So, why do I start to talk about all these “serious” and heavy stuff on a weekend? Shouldn’t I share with you more fun loving and what are the latest news about my new baby that’s expected to due?

In fact, what I’m going to share today, is definately going to impact how you going to spend your weekend starting today.

Let me get straight to the point by showing you this photo that I took in Sri Lanka.

These are young children ranging from age 5 to 16 years old. Of course, they are all born in Sri Lanka. The one thing that’s the same with each and everyone of them is…

they are all ophans!

Due to the limited education and informations that they receive in Sri Lanka, man and woman gets together easily, get married, and start giving birth with zero or little planning on how to raise them.

All these are innocent souls that are being brought to this world, and irresponsible parents just throw them in the thrash, garden, or simply leave them in the streets.

This is my second trip visiting the same orphanages home, and I came to know a lot more this time.

Each child they you see in this photo have a very unique story in each and every one of them.

And I promise that each one is heart-breaking, and will easily bring tears to your eyes.

Check out their living conditions…

They just got their new mattress. You might say, “how come the condition is so bad?” Then, from which comparison did you compare with. The bed that your kid sleep in or the roaming orphans sleeping on the streets.

This home is not government funded at all. All their funds comes from people who donated money to them, and that’s how the home can continue to run and provide for the boys.

I’m so shocked and heartened, how would in the world that parents, or simply human beings, would able to bring harm to their very own flesh and blood?

I’m sure you know that even animals take care of their young when they first born, I’m talking about warm-blooded mammals over here.

Of course, I do not want to open the can of worms discussing about human moral values, religions and etc.

I just want to make a point and statement here.

Be really thankful and grateful of who you are, where you come from and what you are enjoying today.

I know I am. Each time, as I came back, I cannot help feeling more thankful and appreciative of my life more and more.

Today, even an average Singaporean, no matter how poor they are, living in a 60 square meter room, having 3 children and 2 parents squeeze in that tiny space. Father only making S$800 per month making ends meet. Mom is a housewife taking care of 3 children.

No matter how bad the condition is, it would never be as bad as all these children or the poverty that’s happening there.

I’m talking about real poverty here. They do not have a choice. They do not have the knowledge, no skills, no people helping them, and the only possibility is that they worked 100 times as hard as what you and me are doing now.

Or, knowing the right person, informations, and leverage to improve their condition.

So, as I look at these children, I was thinking to myself. How fortunate I am.

When I was young, I’m able to get toys, go shopping, get new clothes on new year, and also new shoes and bags every now and then.

All the things that these orphans get are usually second-hand, and given by volunteers or donors.

So, one of the purpose of this second trip is to visit them once again. Since the first time we went over, we would pull in some money, get some biscuits, chocolates and candy to distribute to them.

Having us visiting and giving them biscuits and chocolates really makes them happy!

To me, I personally feel, that’s the best way to show to them that there are still people caring for them.

Look how happy their faces are, munching their biscuits right away… ( this really melts my heart away)

One thing I’m really happy for them is that they might be the top 20% of the orphans who able to join this orphanages home.

The person running this home have been doing that for 40 years now. He would take in the boy as young as 5 years old.

All the boys that comes in will be approved by the court and decide by the judge which orphanage to go to. From 5 years old to 16 years old, they go to school, learn technical skills that would able to earn a living after 16.

After 16, most of them would leave the home, some goes back to their relatives or even parents. Some goes to the society to work.

Others would transfer to another adult orphanage to further learn more skills, start to work and make a living too. The good ones will be kept in the same orphanage to help to run it.

I can go on and on and on…

I hope I can express what I truly feel and get from this trip of mine and share with you.

All I want to say is that, be grateful of what you got now, where you stayed, and how you came to be. So, no matter how stuck you are in your internet business…

Remember there’s always choices and always ways to get on the right path.

No matter which answer you have in your heart, let me give you a brand new perceptive. I believe it’ll expand your horizon on how you define success in your internet business.

As mentioned yesterday, I’ll share a life-changing experience that I personally encounter in my trip to Sri Lanka. I’ll remember deep in my heart this impactful 10 minutes encounter I had.

Here’s how it goes…

We woke up early on day 7 of our trip, had breakfast, and was ready to continue the rest of the journey of our trip.

We were at Hotel Silver Fall, about 2,000 meters up in the mountain. It was cold up there, the morning shower was full of surprises, as the warm water would suddenly switch to cold ice water in matters of seconds.

Nevertheless, my family and myself had lots of fun.

We are in our tour bus and all ready to head down to the foot of the mountain. The journey would takes about 2 hours from the peak to the foot of the mountain.

If you have been to any mountain resorts or hotels, you would notice the winding roads that enable you to drive up and down the mountain.

The reason why it will takes 2 hours to drive up and down is mainly of that reason. The road is so narrow that it only able to take 1 buses comfortable, and it’s a 2 way road.

So, the driver have to drive slow and be really skillful at negotiating all the corners and be really alert of the incoming vehicles.

It’s very dangerous, as most drivers are very reckless, especially the public buses drivers.

As usual, we would see small pockets of stores, or local people selling local fruits, vegetables or even flowers fresh from the mountains.

As Harv says, “The Essence of Business is To Create It Or Buy it and Sell It for A Profit”. So, the local people do really knows how to do business.

As we drove pass, we saw this local man, taking a big bunch of flowers, full of colors, red, green and white, and waving at us to buy from him.

Of course, our host knows it’s really common in that mountain region, and it’s one of the methods to get make some money for themselves.

So, the bus continue to drove pass, going through the turns and heading down.

Moments later, we saw another man, taking also a big bunch of flowers, very beautiful and vibrant, doing the same action, waving at us, wanting us to buy from him.

The bus continue on…

Another 2 minutes later, as we turn into a corner and make a left-turn, we saw another man again, wearing almost the same outfit, with the same big bunch of flowers, and waving at us, getting us to buy from him.

I was not really observing the man until my wife make this comment, “Why Do All The Man In This Region Look The Same?”

It was until this time that our host make this comment that shocked all of us, including myself…

“It’s the same man all along!” (Did you guess it correctly?)

Everyone in the bus went, “Huh! The same person?”

We were shocked, including myself, I cannot believe it.

Do you know why? If you are in the same bus with me, you would not believe how he did it. Other than the roads that we are traveling is flat, the rest of the mountain is all steep slopes.

He’s not running behind the bus, as I did not see him do it. He dash his way down the steeps slopes of the mountain to get to the next point where he knew we will meet him again.

He’s native in that region, so he knows exactly where to run, but it’s really dangerous doing that. One wrong steps, and a slip, he might fall to his death or break his leg.

During that split second discovery, the bus continue it’s same speed heading down the winding mountain roads.

By the fourth time we saw him, we still continue to drive past. The only difference this time is that we saw him running down the slope, and crossing the road trying to catch up the fifth time.

By the fifth time, we gave in. Our host gave in, ask the driver to slow down, and park by the side of the road.

Seconds later, the man appeared, with the huge bunch of flowers.

It’s beautiful, no doubt about it, however, we do not need it at that point in time.

We opened the window and asked how much is it. We pay him 500 RS and we got this big bunch of beautiful flowers. (It’s really heavy)

I’m really upset forgetting to take a picture of his looks on his face after we bought the flower from him. He look really relief. He didn’t smile, but really relief.

I can see from his eyes that he’s glad that he managed to make 500 RS today.

Let me tell you another daunting fact. Do you know how much 500 RS is in your currency?

S$1 will convert to about 80 RS. So, 500 RS is only about $6.25 Singapore dollars

US$1 will convert about 100 RS. So 500 RS is only US$5

Imagine the extra mile, the risk and the hard work this man have to put in to only potentially about to make US$5 on that day.

How fast do you spend US$5 every single day? In a MacDonald Value Meal, in a StarBucks Coffee, or even in a bowl of noodles.

If most tourist didn’t stop the car, it would not only waste his effort running down, he might not even make US$5, and worst still, slip and fall during the attempt.

Not only that, even if he make the money or not, he still have to make the trip up the first same spot when we first see him.

This man really hit me deep in my heart and soul.

I cannot help “crying” in my hearts how grateful and thankful I am living in Singapore and exposed to the internet and able to build an internet business.

Just one sale from my recent launch of my ebook, one copy would be already US$14.95. And that’s already almost 3 flower sales of him running that same mountain slopes risking his life.

And if you look from the business perceptive, how many times do we need to keep engaging and going back to our prospect to take notice of us, trust us and in the end, buy from us?

Also, I’m sure you would have heard that it takes at least 7 times for someone to visit your website and read your salesletter before deciding to buy from you.

That’s non-other than true in this case.

A bit sad, as I miss my friends and teacher, food and environment of Sri Lanka.

Today, I’m going to share a bit more on the fun I have in the 8 days of the trip. Then, over the following 2 days, I would share more on my experience and insights about my trip.

This is my 2nd trip to Sri Lanka, and other than fun, relax and play, there’s a stronger purpose and meaning to it, which I strongly look forward to it.

On my 6th day of my trip, we went from sea-side resort to mountain hotel. It took us about 4 hours to climb this mountain of at least 2,000 meters above sea-level to reach this hotel.

The weather is very cooling as we climb higher and higher. The hotel that we stayed at is almost at the peak of the mountain. There are many hotels on top of it. Not only that, we see a lot of beautiful sceneries…

like natural waterfall, lakes, tea-plantation, vegetations and not forgetting the fresh air and the simple life in the mountain region.

This is just one of the waterfall along the way up and down the winding mountain roads. (A quick snap from my camera as bus is moving pass)

Beautiful entrance of the Hotel Silver Falls. The reason why it’s called Silver Falls is because of a waterfall nearby the hotel. Great hotel as usual, great rates!

A quick photo taking with the beautiful backdrop of mountain greens… the beautiful couple that you see here is my parents. (Note how strong the winds are, and it’s really cold up there. )

If you look into the background, you might be able to spot the waterfall that gave it’s name to the hotel. And in the background, all the greens are all tea-plantations.

Almost all of the them belongs to foreign companies, one of the famous company is Lipton. And you might be shocked to hear this, as I do, all the lands are 999 years tender, which is as good as freehold. (Do you smell opportunity as I do?)

On our way down, here’s a typical tea-plantation that you’ll see, and we stop by to taste some tea, and of course, buy some high quality great tasting tea for my good friends.

At the end of the day, we walked out with bags of tea. I think we bought at least almost 10 kg of tea from this factory. Almost all of them are gifts!

It took us about 3 hours to get to the foot of the mountain, and we stop by for lunch. A quick thought came to my mind… haha… took a quick photo of my lunch.

You might be surprise, I love the food in Sri Lanka. Of course, when we are out, we usually dine at better restaurants and hotels, and they serve better food.

Our host would never let us try street-food, so I cannot give my opinion on that. The vegetables, curry, and the crackers are so tasty…

Even the rice is so different from place to place. Generally, the food is good, I like it and enjoy as much as possible while I was there.

Tomorrow, I’ll share more about my experiences and insights. It’ll be more on the heavy stuffs, observation that I met.

Most importantly, one very reason you must pro-actively check my new post is that, I’ll blog a specific incident that happen to us while we are heading down the mountain road.

It could be possibility one of the most memorable and life-changing incident that I will never forget in my entire life.

In total, we travel the coast of Sri Lanka and stayed in 2 hotels. The 2nd hotel that we stayed in (which I’m staying as of this post) is the better among the two.

It’s better in terms of luxury and also value for money. There’s always a saying, “It’s always who you know.”

Personally, I think that statement is only half-correct. I would prefer this way, “It’s Not only who you know, but also who knows you.”

Because of that, of who we know and who knows us in Sri Lanka, we can travel in style and also in very luxury resorts at such a good value…

… that you cannot find any where in this world, unless you own the resorts.

Of course, in order to get such great value, a small secret would be, we know the owner one way or another.

Here’s some quick photos that I took from my room.

The food is great. The resorts is great. It’s totally relax, no sounds and sights of busy traffic, no stress, and all we hear is sounds of the wave and birds. Totally heavenly!

This is a 5 stars resort from my personal standard. It would be as good as resorts like Banyan Tree in Phuket and many parts of the world. Any pool-side room in Banyan tree would easily cost US$800 – US$1,500 a night.

For the rooms that we are getting, it’s only a tiny fraction of that.

Here’s another few photos from the surrounding of the resorts. We are facing the India Ocean, look at the crashing waves that’s behind us…

And while we are having fun at the sea, taking photo, we got a special guest…

For all these, I’m really blessed and thankful for that.

After my short post that I’m writing here, I’m going to enjoy the pool and the sea breeze. So, with that, I’ll post more photos and my finding during the trip.
